Cashish for the iPhone helps you to track your expenses, and it's simplicity and excellence at what it does is an excellent example of everything that could go right with an app.

Cashish is an excellent little app which does exactly what it advertises: it keeps track of your cash, nothing more, nothing less.

That in itself is a part of it's charm. When you open the app, you can input your expenses at lightning speed and get on with your life. It does what you want it to do, no questions asked.

A large display helps show you how much cash you have left, after you've input just how much you've spent on lunch or coffee.

For the curious, Cashish offers a pie chart which breaks down your expenses into their components, to see where most of your money is. For those who want more detailed statistical analysis, Cashish allows you to export all your transactions as a CSV file, which you can then pull into Excel and do whatever you want with it.

I've used this app myself for almost two years now, and it's speed and simplicity leaves me wanting nothing more. It sits nested on my iPhone home screen ready to be called into action, helping to remind me whether I need to tighten the belt, or whether I can splurge just a little bit.

While the app used to be free, the asking price of USD $0.99 on the App Store is an extremely low price for helping you to control your spending, meaning unless you happen to not care about money (and in today's economy, few have that luxury), it'll certainly pay for itself many times over.
