Quintessential Japanese Tranquillity

A photo showing Japanese beauty at its best. Taken on Miyajima Island, Japan.

This image captures the quintessential aesthetic of Japanese beauty and Zen to give a calm, yet elegant sense of peace. It is simplicity at its best.

The photo was taken inside Hokuku Shine's Senjokaku Hall on Miyajima Island during the early autumn months, giving a contrast between green and leaves turning orange, yellow and red. It was a shot which required quite a bit of patience as for it to work, it needed to be completely devoid of people.

Getting here requires approximately 30 minutes by JR train and 45 minutes by tram from Hiroshima. If you have a bit more time, I suggest taking the tram as it is certainly more scenic than the JR.

German broadcaster Deutche Welle (DW) also featured this photo in their "Nature on your doorstep" photography competition (image 3).
