Delay update on the Nocfree & keyboard: Bluetooth issues found in testing, redesign underway, new timeline likely March–April 2026.
In the latest Kickstarter update to backers, they announced that during test assembly, they discovered that the left-hand keyboard performed stably and consistently across all test scenarios, but that the right-hand keyboard, when operating in Bluetooth mode, exhibited occasional input stuttering and latency in certain environments.
Their investigations revealed that the aluminium enclosure weakened the Bluetooth signal, despite having already designed an opening to help with signal transmission.
They quickly worked with their suppliers to redesign a new external antenna solution, and it solved the problem. However, this means that they need to discard the PCBs they've already produced, and start the process again: redesign, prototyping and validation, and mass production.
The guys at Nocfree don't have the same resources that large companies such as Logitech has, and so it's expected there will be set backs, especially when they're trying to do things which are still in its early stages. It's good that this was picked up early, and that they've been transparent about it.
It looks like we'll need to wait a bit longer, but once we get a unit in, we'll do a full review.
